KUALA LUMPUR: Statements of parents of the man found burnt to death here in Taman Tun Dr Ismail on Saturday were recorded by police following investigation on the case classified as sudden death.
Another individual whose statement was also taken was a witness, said Brickfields district police chief Assistant Commissioner Azlee Abdullah.

"It was believed that the victim's death has connections to severe depression due to an overwhelming personal problem," Azlee said.

The economics and politics student of a New Zealand's university who returned to Malaysia for holidays since early this month had just arrived home at 4am on Saturday, after seeing a friend.

Then, the 20-year-old was believed to have poured petrol and set himself ablaze when he was alone in his room at his parents' condominium unit here on Jalan Wan Kadir 5.

His mother later found her son's charred body on his room's balcony, after being woken up by the smell of smoke.

Apart from the discovery of two tins of petrol and a pendrive containing a 'death-themed' poem at the scene, sources claimed that a check on a mobile phone found showed a sent text message which said "See you on the other side".

Meanwhile, it was learnt that Bukit Aman was probing the leak of the deceased's picture on cyberspace, which had since yesterday seen on several blogs and websites. NST
