Divorced Couple Urged To Settle Custody Issue According To Law

KUALA LUMPUR: Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar has urged a divorced couple caught in between two court orders over the custody of their son, to resolve the matter within the law.
Commenting on the case of the man who is said to have abducted their six-year-old son from the ex-wife's house following the overlapping of custody orders, he asked that they sort out the custody orders first.
Last Monday, the Seremban High Court granted custody of Izwan Abdullah's son and daughter to their biological mother, S. Deepa, 31. Khalid said for now, the police could not detain Izwan, 31, who was alleged to have abducted his son from his ex-wife's house as there was no warrant of arrest.
"It is better that they first resolve the court orders as there is an overlapping of the orders and the police, on their part, honour the ruling of both courts," he told reporters after attending a Buddhist religious programme, in conjunction with the 207th Police Day Memorial here today. Bernama
