Five Colombian Burglars Caught

SHAH ALAM, April 4. Five Columbians suspected of being involved in house-breaking activities were arrested in a raid on a condominium in Damansara Perdana near here on Tuesday.
Selangor Deputy Police Chief Datuk Abd Rahim Jaafar said the suspects, aged between 25 and 42 years, were suspected to have been active in crime since early this year.
"They are suspected to have robbed a house in Kota Kemuning here early February and based on information we got and our own surveillance, we were successful in detaining all of them at about 11pm in the house last Tuesday.
"In the raid, we seized several handphones, watches, laptops, televisions and several instruments including a hook, screw drivers, saw, pliers, knife and walkie-talkie which we believe have been used in house-breaking activities," he told a press conference at the Selangor Police Contingent Headquarters here today.
He said investigations showed the group was involved in 11 cases of break-ins in Shah Alam, Petaling Jaya, Serdang and Subang Jaya.
"They use expensive cars which are rented and fixed with false number plates when committing crimes to avoid being caught," he said, adding that the suspects weare now being held to be investigated under Section. BERNAMA
