TELUK INTAN May 27. The DAP candidate for Teluk Intan by-election Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud's mother today declared quitting Perkasa.
Yammy Sammat said she no longer involved in the Malay right wing group's activities since last year as the NGO appears to be politically-inclined.
"I think Perkasa has strayed away from its original objective.
"It should be a Malay NGO and work for the Malay community," she said in a press conference at the DAP Operation Centre, here, today.
Asked whether she was the first Perkasa Wanita chief, Yammy denied it and said it was Raihan Sulaiman Palestin who held the post.
Meanwhile, Dyana insisted that she was not aware of her mother's involvement in Perkasa and was only told about it recently. It was reported earlier that she had denied her mother of any link with Perkasa.
When asked if the conflicting statements would affect her credibility in the by-election, Dyana simply brushed it off saying: "No, I think Teluk Intan voters can understand it." THE SUN DAILY
