TELUK INTAN May 30. DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng dismissed Barisan Nasional's (BN) claims that the party was "disrespectful" for holding ceramah sessions on Thursday night, a day after the demise of the late Sultan of Perak, Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah.
Speaking to the press here at DAP's operation centre, Lim claimed the allegations raised by Umno deputy president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin earlier today was baseless and a double standard practised by BN as he claimed that BN had also held ceramahs both on Wednesday and Thursday nights at two different venues.
Lim also claimed that the allegations raised by Muhyiddin were an attempt to stoke racial sentiment against DAP.
On Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong's statement reported in an English daily that the by-election should not be determined by outstationed voters, Lim said it was unfair for the MCA deputy president to "scold" the voters as they did not have a choice when moving out of Teluk Intan in search of job opportunities.
Lim alleged that the scarcity of jobs was the federal government's fault and urged the voters outside the constituency to come home to cast their ballots this Saturday. THE SUN DAILY
