TELUK INTAN May 27. Barisan Nasional (BN) parliamentary candidate Datuk Mah Siew Keong today cried foul over his campaign poster which has been found smeared with the words "B for Bodoh" (B for Stupid) along Sg Nibong.
Speaking to reporters at the Hilir Perak Police District Headquarters multi-purpose hall, he said: "I have already restrained my supporters earlier (that) the DAP posters should not be painted (over like mine).
"I have also informed both parties (BN and DAP) to cease this sort of action, especially with the by-election drawing into closure and we do not want the atmosphere to be disturbed as this a democractic process which is meant to be respected by all."
He claimed that the Opposition had acted upon their accord after DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang said that the party's candidate Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud possessed the three Bs – Bold, Beauty and Bravery.
On criticisms against his manifesto from the locals that it does not meet their needs, he said the document is a display of his intentions for the constituents here should he be given the mandate to represent them. He also rubbished criticisms that the manifesto did not address the locals' welfare.
"We have constantly addressed the issue of the peoples' welfare on yearly basis. For instance, last year, 2,000 families were provided free food every month by private sectors."
Mah had also pledged to make Teluk Intan the "food hub" for lower Perak and to carry out integrated riverfront development in his manifesto revealed yesterday.
The other two thrusts call for transforming the local economy to provide more jobs for youths and resolving a variety of community issues, including plans for a university, having affordable housing under PR1MA, and increased internet penetration. THE SUN DAILY
