PETALING JAYA. May 18. After months of silence, the next of kin of crew members on board flight MH370 said Malaysia Airlines (MAS) has abandoned them after they sought legal advice from an American law firm.
About one and a half weeks ago the services of caregivers assigned to the families was abruptly stopped. However the official notice of termination only arrived last Friday.
Group spokesperson Kelvin Shim said the families have been left to fend for themselves since then and were kept in the dark about developments in the ongoing search operations as the caregivers were the ones who gave them daily updates.
He was speaking to the media in a press conference held at the Holiday Villa Hotel in Subang today.
Shim said he, along with at least six other families of the crew members, now have to inform their lawyers, who will in turn contact MAS's lawyers, if they need anything from the company.
Jacquita Gonzales said being laymen they have every right to seek legal advice when dealing with legal documents.
She also said it is unbecoming of MAS to treat them that way as their spouses have been working with the company for decades. THE SUN DAILY
