Senior Citizen Shocks Ramkarpal During Tai Chi Session

GEORGE TOWN May 14. A friendly tai chi chuan session with the people at the Island Glades for DAP candidate Ramkarpal Singh turned sour after a senior citizen let her anger out on him.

The 65-year-old woman, who only wanted to be known as Soo, vented her frustration over the early shut-off time for street lamps at the field near her area which has inconvenienced the residents there.

She said the street lamps were switched off as early as 5am, putting her tai chi group in danger and has caused accidents to morning joggers in area.

Ramkarpal, who appeared shocked and caught unaware, assured her that her complaint will be looked into.

Seri Delima assemblyman RSN Rayer, who was accompanying him, said the timers of the street lamps were faulty due to the thunderstorms of late.

"The timers in these lights are faulty after lightning struck at it few days ago.

"We will fix this in the shortest time possible. On accidents, we will request the Works Department to install more speed breakers to help calm traffic in the area," he said when contacted. New Straits Times
