WEAK PAS-UMNO FOR NON MALAY DEMANDS.

PAS and Umno’s weak stand on Malay rights has emboldened the country’s non-Muslim “immigrants” into attempting to destroy the position of Islam in Malaysia, Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (Isma) said.
Isma president Abdullah Zaik Abd Rahman said both parties need to unite to safeguard Malay and Muslim rights, as well as to put an end to the debate over hudud.
“As long as Malays and Muslims are seen as weak, it will impossible for them (non-Muslims) to stop making their demands,” he said during a news conference at Isma’s headquarters here.
“Isma wants to unite PAS and Umno for the good of all Muslims... this would be the first step towards safeguarding (our) rights and interests,” Abdullah added, saying that a unified Umno and PAS would also silence any opposition towards implementing hudud law in the country.
Abdullah had today maintained that the country’s non-Muslim citizens, whom he has repeatedly and unapologetically labelled “immigrants”, have no right to question or object to how Malays and Muslims want Malaysia to be shaped.
“This cannot be questioned by any immigrant race... they have to accept the special position of Malays and Bumiputera as the sovereign race in this country,” he said.
He also reiterated that non-Muslims, especially the Chinese should not go “overboard” in meddling over issues which concerned the Muslim community.
Abdullah said on Wednesday the Chinese were considered intruders into Malay land, and had been brought by British colonialists to oppress Malays.
The hard-core Islamist group has been raising its public profile over the past one year with its provocative remarks against Malaysia’s racial and religious minorities.
In February, Isma vice-president Muhammad Fauzi Asmuni was investigated for sedition after he allegedly called on Muslims nationwide to be aggressive when defending Islam.
No charges have been made.
The group had previously claimed that Indians and Chinese were brought into the country to weaken the Malay identity and undermine the community’s birthright to Tanah Melayu on the pretext of multiculturalism.
