KOTA BARU, 3 June. The Kelantan police said 91 rape cases were reported in the state in the first five months of 2014 of which, 88 had been solved.
In a statement issued today, Kelantan Police Chief Datuk Jalaluddin Abdul Rahman said 90 individuals were detained in conjunction with the cases.
He said that during the corresponding period last year, 92 rape cases were reported.
The latest incident that drew public attention was the case where two teenagers aged 15 and 17 were reported raped by a group of men in a vacant house which had been turned into a drug den in Ketereh on May 20.
Meanwhile, Jalaluddin pointed out that police had resolved 214 of the 225 rape cases throughout 2013 with the detention of 161 individuals. BERNAMA
