PAKATAN CANNOT BE ONE GE COALITION.

Pakatan Rakyat (PR) will only be a one general-election (GE) coalition if it is unable to keep the faith with Malaysians in giving top priority to PR's common policy framework and consensus, warned DAP Parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang yesterday at a dinner in Melaka to honour the late Karpal Singh.

Lim said, "Malaysians are waiting for the next GE full of hope and expectation that a change in federal government will come about. However since the last GE, supporters of PR have become increasingly concerned if PR like Barisan Alternatif, will only survive one election like in 1999."

Barisan Alternatif was formed after the sacking of Anwar Ibrahim as the deputy prime minister and finance minister and his expulsion from Umno.
Asked the concerned Lim, "Will PR be around as a coalition to contest the 14th GE to replace the Barisan Nasional (BN) in Putrajaya?"

On another note, Lim reminded those present that the PR Leadership Council had in September 28, 2011 reaffirmed that hudud was not a PR agenda and any policy change would need the agreement of all three component parties.

"If hudud had been a hot controversial issue in the 13th GE, PR might have lost Selangor apart from Kedah. Johor most likely would have reverted to remaining an invincible BN 'fixed-deposit' state," reiterated Lim.

"All three PR component parties, whether DAP, PKR or PAS would have suffered a setback," said Lim further.

Lim is confident Malaysians will continue to support PR and replace BN in the next GE.
