MAY 13, RAMASAMY TWISTED WHAT MUHYIDDIN SAID

GEORGE TOWN, Perkasa accused DAP's Prof P. Ramasamy today of spinning Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin's recent reminder on racial unity out of context, pointing out the deputy prime minister had never mentioned May 13 in his remarks last week.
The Malay rights group's Penang chapter said it was Ramasamy who had raised the spectre of May 13 when he challenged Muhyiddin to repeat the bloody racial clashes that rocked the nation in 1969.
"Ramasamy had twisted what was said as Muhyiddin had merely said that if the ties between the races continue to be strained, it might cause a repeat of the nation's dark history, he did not mention May 13 at all," Penang Perkasa chief Fadzil Shuib said in a press conference here this morning.
The right-wing group was responding to Ramasamy's challenge to Muhyiddin to "bring May 13" after the latter reportedly warned that the deadly 1969 inter-ethnic clashes could happen again.
