SUPP, LETS WORK TOGETHER.

Former Sarawak United People's Party (SUPP) president Dr George Chan said the many challenges faced by the party have brought its members closer together and made the party strong and relevant.

"Although we are faced with various obstacles and challenges, outside forces still cannot destroy this party," said Dr Chan in remarks coinciding with SUPP's 55th anniversary celebrations.

"In fact, it (the challenges) has brought us closer than ever before and SUPP still stands firm like always," he said.

Dr Chan said he still remembered the glory days when SUPP was in its prime and people were always willing to help in any way possible.

"When SUPP was down and almost out, nobody bothered to even acknowledge it, let alone express any sympathy," he said.

Dr Chan said there were enough members who had chosen to continue to stand behind the party through thick and thin.

He said the "blue army" (younger members) of the party was an important asset and would determine the future of SUPP.

Dr Chan's only child is married to a son of Sarawak Governor Taib Mahmud.
