A police report has been lodged against PAS’ Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad over his blog post which allegedly questioned the powers of the Selangor Sultan under the state constitution.
The report was lodged by Azam Aziz and Co Advocates and Solicitors’ lawyer Mohd Khairul Azam Abdul Aziz at the Dang Wangi police headquarters at about 11am here yesterday.
In the entry titled Video: Sidang Media Nama MB dan Kuasa Sultan (Press Conference MB’s Name and Sultan’s Powers) posted on Friday, Khalid allegedly questioned the state constitution for giving Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah the power to have a say on who should be appointed the new mentri besar.
“In his post, we could see that he was indirectly questioning the constitutional power. Although he claimed that the points of his statement were taken and compiled from various unknown sources, he should not have shared the posting,” Mohd Khairul told reporters.
By blindly sharing such “information” with others, Khalid could easily mislead people, he said, adding that the statement also posed a threat to the monarchy institution.
Mohd Khairul urged the authorities to investigate the case under Section 121 of the Penal Code and Section 3 (3) of the Sedition Act 1948 for waging war against the Agong and sedition.
District OCPD Asst Comm Rasdi Ramli confirmed police received the report.
