WHAT ABOUT JUSTICE FOR ME ?

Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim has accused the PKR Disciplinary Board of violating the party's principle of "justice for all" in its handling of his case.

In a letter addressed to board chairman Tan Kee Kwong today, he said it was unfair that the board, in summoning him to attend today's hearing, had asked him to explain five issues which were not mentioned in the show cause letter it had sent earlier.

The five issues are: the restructuring of water supply, the Menteri Besar's new allowance, the raising of business licence fees, the settlement of his Bank Islam loan and the proposal to build the Kidex highway.

"As a party that struggles for justice for all, it should give me a clear opportunity to defend myself," he said. "But the board has acted contrary to the party slogan, contrary to natural justice and without following proper procedures."

Khalid said he was unable to attend today's hearing because he had to attend to his duties as the Menteri Besar. He said the notice given was too short-less than 24 hours. He proposed that the hearing be held on Aug 15.

He maintained that the contents of the show cause letter, which was dated Aug 5, were vague, that it did not state which part of the party constitution he had violated.

"This means, prima facie, that there has been no breach of discipline by me and nothing for the disciplinary board to hear," he said.

"The board has erred in stating and expressing the view that the show cause letter was clear."
