In diversifying its investment products, PMB Investment Berhad today launched its first Sukuk fund known as PMB Wholesale Sukuk Fund, which received a first-day subscription of RM70 million.
The launch was officiated by Dato’ Seri Haji Mohd Shafie Haji Apdal, the Minister of the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development at the Premiera Hotel, Kuala Lumpur on the occasion of the Sambutan Hari MARA ke-49.PMB Investment is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Pelaburan MARA Berhad.
According to the Chief Executive Officer of PMB Investment, Ameer Ali Mohamed, the new fund launch and the subscription of RM70 million have boosted the fund size of PMB Investment to RM1.11 billion.
He added that PMB Investment started offering Sukuk portfolio management service in mid-2014 and now is offering a Sukuk wholesale fund to qualified investors.
The objective of the PMB Wholesale Sukuk Fund is to generate consistent income stream and steady capital appreciation in the medium to long term through investments in Sukuk. It is suitable for qualified investors with low to medium risk tolerance levels.
The minimum initial investment is RM500,000 while minimum additional investment is RM250,000.
"This fund shall invest at least 70 percent in Ringgit dominated sukuk while the rest shall be invested in money market instruments, deposit and/or other permitted investments allowed by Shariah," explained Ameer.
Representatives of Dana Khas Pendidikan MARA and Kolej Poly-Tech MARA (KPTM) then submitted mock-cheques worth RM50 million and RM20 million, respectively, to the PMB Investment Chairman Dato' (Dr.) Zamani Md. Noor.
Also present were MARA Chairman Tan Sri Annuar Musa, MARA Director-General Datuk Ibrahim Ahmad, Pelaburan MARA Berhad Chairman Dato’ Sohaimi Shahadan Pelaburan MARA Berhad Group Chief Executive Officer Nazim Rahman.
