TSG Names Five Riders For Tour Of Thailand

KUALA TERENGGANU, March 25 (Bernama) -- The Terengganu Cycling Team (TSG) has listed five riders, including two imports, to take part in the Maha Chackri Sirindhon's Cup 'Tour of Thailand' from April 1 to 6.

TSG manager Fazim Saad said the five would be headed by two national riders, Mohd Harrif Salleh and Mohammad Saufi Mat Senan who had joined TSG for the 2014 Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) recently, and Mohd Nor Umardi Rosdi.

Meanwhile, the two foreign riders in the team are Muradjan Halmuratov (Uzbekistan) and Maarten de Jonge (Holland).

"For Muradjan and Maarten, this is the second time they are participating in a championship since joining TSG early this year. The first time was the Tour de Taiwan from March 9-13 and they did not take part in the 2014 LTdL," he told Bernama, here Tuesday.

According to Fazim, the aim of sending the two import riders was to test their prowess at a race that require climb experts.

He said in the Tour de Taiwan recently, both the foreign riders had performed well.

It is learnt that more than 30 teams would be taking part in the Tour of Thailand which would start in Bangkok and end in Chiang Rai.

Fazim said the TSG riders have been undergoing intensive training to prepare for the tour.

He added that TSG had also received an invitation to participate in the 2014 Le Tour de Filipinas from April 20 to 24. BERNAMA
