RM100 MILLION SPECIAL FUND FOR WOMEN

The Women, Family and Community Development Ministry will be setting up a RM100 million special fund for women, to uplift their livelihood in various fields including business ventures and obtaining higher learning education.

Its minister Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim said the ministry will seek the revolving fund from the government, and revealed that she will raise the request at the next Cabinet meeting.

"Through our various engagements with the public, we found out that many women lack the financial assistance to create opportunities that will help increase their income which can help their families," she said at the national level Women's Day Celebration here.

She added that the fund will be dispersed in forms including easy loans, grants, incentives and repayment discounted to good pay masters.

"The fund will most importantly, help groups who are not eligible for welfare assistance at the same time unable to obtain loans from financial institutes," she said.

She added that the management of this fund would be under the purview of the Ministry who would top up the funds if there was positive support.

Also present was Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, who in her speech urged employers to implement flexible working  arrangements to ensure women able to balance career and family commitments better.

"This can be done through compressed work week, flexible working hours and weekend work," she said, adding that tax deductions should be given to companies adopting these suggestions.
