A Sessions Court here has postponed today the hearing of Abdullah Zaik Abd Rahman, the president of Islamist group Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (Isma) who was accused of sedition.
The hearing will resume on December 22 pending the result of a judicial review of the controversial Sedition Act 1948 lodged by academic Assoc Prof Dr Azmi Sharom in the Kuala Lumpur High Court.
Close to 100 Isma members had earlier converged in front of the court to support Abdullah, chanting for his charges to be dropped.
They held placards with words such as “We are with the truth”, “Bumi ini bumi Melayu Islam” (This land is the land of Malay Muslims) and “Sejarah bukan hasutan” (History is not seditious).
